HL-MDU – Fully automated microwave digestion for elemental analysis

In modern laboratory analysis, microwave digestion has been established for spectrometric elemental analysis for many years. With the HL-MDU, we offer a fully automated solution that enables microwave digestion without manual intervention. In cooperation with CEM, the leading manufacturer of laboratory microwave systems, the HL-MDU was developed specifically for the BLADE microwave digestion device.

Existing BLADE systems can be prepared for integration into automated systems with a simple software update. The door required for manual operation can be easily removed. No further mechanical modifications are necessary.

With the HL-MDU, microwave digestion in automated laboratories is more efficient, precise and flexible than ever before.

Automated digestion process for high efficiency and reliability

The HL-MDU ensures that the digestion process is fully automated. Autosampler racks with digestion vessels are automatically inserted into the BLADE device, where the samples are individually processed and then transferred in a cooled state back to the rack. After the rack has been removed from the machine, the samples can be further prepared or transferred directly to analyzers. At the same time, another rack with vessels can be transferred to the BLADE system and then digested. This automated process allows continuous, time-optimized and reliable sample processing. Up to 24 samples can be processed simultaneously in two racks in a BLADE system.

Versatility and precision in sample handling

The HL-MDU enables the effective digestion of different sample matrices and quantities with minimal acid consumption. The system developed by HERZOG for the automatic removal and replacement of the snap-on caps (HL-CU) allows full automation of the process. The Liquid Dosing Unit (HL-DU) can be used to fill the vessels with mineral acids, aqua regia and other additives required for microwave digestion with high precision and fully automatically. After the process, the sample liquid can be diluted and transferred directly into analytical instruments (HL-ATU) or autosampler tubes.

Scalable integration and maintenance-friendly design

The HL-MDU offers the option of integrating several BLADE devices into one system to increase capacity and throughput. Individual devices can be easily removed from the outside for more extensive maintenance work, and the resulting gap can be closed with a cover. After that, it is possible to continue to operate the system in a completely safe manner.

The design of the HL-MDU makes all relevant maintenance points for both sample handling and the BLADE unit easily accessible. This approach ensures minimal downtime and smooth integration into existing laboratory automation systems.

With the HL-MDU, microwave digestion in automated laboratories is more efficient, precise and flexible than ever before.

Support Brackets – Series C

Anchors produces refractory support brackets. Support brackets are used when the walls of the furnace are high. This enables to spread the weight on the refractory which reduces the risk of deterioration of the wall. They are also often placed around doors or < openings > to reinforce the refractory on
